Baby Lia – Toronto Infant Photos

Mom and Dad met in University, on a night that started with Dad on one knee in the middle of a bar, ended with him swearing that if she and her friends showed up to his class on Monday he would come in a coconut bikini (which he DID – they did NOT ???) and resulted in them becoming great friends and eventually falling in love and getting married.

Ok, so based on that story ALONE we know that this couple is awesome and this baby is probably going to have an amazingly entertaining and fun filled childhood!

When she first arrived Lia wanted to party. At just shy of a month she is still just a wee peanut (born at only 5lbs 9oz!) but she was much more aware of her surroundings and interested in what was happening around her. Fabulous, as we were able to capture some adorable expressions and eye contact and then she was kind enough to fall asleep and pose that way as well.

April really is the month of smiley, smirking babies. I think we are up to 5 in a row now! Lia seemed to have a sense of humor about it. She kept waiting until I was on the other side of the room or had just set my camera down to pull out her big smiles, but I love this sweet smirk that we managed to capture! Come to think of it she may just have a wicked sense of humor like her Dad. She also managed to pee on both of her parents’ laps, perfectly timed and angled to make it look like they themselves had an accident – future comedian??? ?

So happy for these amazing new parents!

It was important to Mom and Dad to incorporate some green into the session as Lia was born on St. Patrick’s Day. Cool birthday, and I love the sentiment, but then they told me they story…

Their journey to parents was not short and sweet, nor simple. They waited for 5 long and painful years for this beautiful baby. About a year and a half ago, they took a trip to Ireland. While they were there they visited the Wishing Steps in Blarney. Legend has it that if you walk down and then back up the steps with your eyes closed while thinking of your wish, the Blarney Witch will grant it. Mom and Dad did just that, walking down and back up the steps together, eyes closed, thinking of their baby. On the first St. Patrick’s Day after their trip, Lia was born, healthy and beautiful, tiny but perfect – all theirs.

I got chills when they shared their story, literal chills that went up my back and brought tears to my eyes.

Thank you so much to Mom and Dad for bringing Miss Lia in for her first portraits. It was such a pleasure to meet you both and to hear your stories, I hope to see you all again and watch as Lia grows!
