Baby Ruby – Pickering Newborn Photos
Welcome to the world Ruby! I am super excited to introduce you all to my “niece” (Yep, I’m just going to go ahead and claim the Auntie title, hope that’s ok Mom and Dad!) Based on this big smile, I’m going to go ahead and guess that Ruby is excited to be here too. Right before this photo was taken, Ruby made a classic Dayna face, that we all refer to as “moon eyes”. Dayna is literally the only person I have ever seen make that face, so I excitedly yelled “She’s making moon eyes!” and then Ruby smiled this huge smile as if she was in on the joke.
Ruby wasn’t particularly fond of the idea of sleeping for her entire session, a little FOMO I guess. She was super bright and alert though, with this huge personality. She was watching everything I did and tracking voices around the room. I think this little girl is going to have a lot to say when she finds her voice!
She did eventually give in and as long as I didn’t fuss with her hands too much she let us pose her. I am very grateful for this, as I am super fond of her awesome parents and wanted to make sure their images were perfect. Mom is an artist, Dad works in film – no pressure or anything 😉
The night before Ruby’s session I painted this pretty purple bucket and was excited my “intricate” paint job was up to snuff, or at least Dayna was far to polite to say otherwise. This girl has painted gorgeous murals taller than she is, and is now passing on her talents and tricks on to her students, and I’m sure one day to little Ruby as well.
(By the way, I did buckets in all different gorgeous colours, so if you want your little one to be the next to try one out get in touch and we can plan your newborn session!)
These two were incredible to watch as parents. I have known them both quite a while, Dayna since she was only a 14 year old kid sitting on my kitchen floor with my little sister and eating all of our food. Ryan a little later, when he fell in love with Dayna taking the bus to University every morning. I watched them walk down the aisle, say their vows and become a family, and now feel so privileged to have been able to document their journey into parenthood. While I am sure they are exhausted, as all new parents are, they were wonderfully supportive of each other and so patient with Ruby during our newborn session.
I love Ruby’s beautiful name, as well as the sentimental value it holds. Ruby was Ryan’s Grandmother’s name, and Louise (her middle name) is a family name held by the first daughter born to each generation. Ruby Louise, just perfect.
Thank you again for letting come along on this journey with you. And as a side note – thank you Dayna for wearing that shirt, it matches my website colors perfectly, you will look great on it ?!
