Eva & Baby Alexia – Durham Maternity & Newborn Photographer
I had an absolute riot photographing Eva for her maternity session – complete with me losing it in a creek cause I was sure the stick in my shoe must be some weird water creature, and Eva making fun of me. Then Miss Alexia joined us on the scene (born just a few days later!) and wee little girlfriend made me WORK. She’s just as gorgeous as her Mama though, so it was well worth the effort.
Eva is my sister’s “work sister”, a blast to be around, a fabulous sense of humor and as an added bonus her Mama makes THE best Baclava that I have ever tasted. I am so happy for her and her husband with this new addition to their family. Alexia is literally the cherry on top for this gorgeous couple that compliment each other so well and it was a privilege to be part of, and document, their journey.
We started our maternity session in the studio for some gorgeous classic maternity images and then headed outside to play. I absolutely love this little spot in Oshawa and have been dying to get someone in this little river, so I was super excited when Eva said she was game. What I didn’t realize is that in order to get the shot in my mind, I too was going to have to climb in the creek. Most people who know me would not expect this, as I am a huge animal lover and am not phased by them, even snakes, lizards, etc., but I am actually super nervous about going into any water that isn’t a swimming pool. Not sure what it is, I think the fear of unknown – who knows what might be hiding in there?! Anyway, Eva was much cooler than I was and managed to keep the teasing to minimum while I spazzed ?
For the record – I will totally do it again. The wading was well worth the image.
Isn’t she gorgeous?! Hard to believe that it was just 3 days later that wee Alexia made her way onto the scene.
Here is the sweet girl that was hiding in that gorgeous belly. Hair and lashes, and just the most beautiful tiny features.
I love the sweet smirk in this one. She finally gave in to sweet sleep thanks to the swaddle and looks so lovely in this sweet pearl headband!
This is actually a drawer from my desk, made by my sister, that happens to double as a perfect little prop for baby portraits! We had to work out tails off to convince her to sleep through this one (she had decided it was time to go home 😛 ) but I think it was well worth the effort.
Thanks so much to Mom and Dad for allowing me to document this incredible time in your lives! I had so much fun doing it and hope that you will enjoy these portraits for many many years to come!
