Check out these adorable Durham cake smash photos!!
This cake smash was SO much fun! When Jayden’s Mom contacted me and suggested she would like a “Hungry Caterpillar” theme for her son’s first birthday cake smash photos, I couldn’t wait to get started. Such a fun and creative theme idea! She sent me a few inspiration images and we very quickly settled on this super cute tissue pom caterpillar idea which made the perfect backdrop for his photos. It was a great creative outlet too!
We kicked the session off with some sweet photos of him in his birthday attire – so adorable! Family photos were on the agenda as well to document the milestone of Jayden’s first birthday.
When we chatted during the booking process for his cake smash photo session, Jayden’s Mom had expressed being a bit apprehensive. Her son tends to be shy around strangers, and doesn’t like to smile around new people. She worried that he might cry the whole time, so I reassured her that we can (almost) always get adorable cake smash photos, even with babies who are timid.
We were all a bit surprised when Jayden came in and started performing like a professional model! I mean look at the SMILE!
As it turned out, Jayden LOVED having his photo taken, and thought I was just the funniest thing ever with my silly sounds and faces.
I don’t think anyone would ever guess that this little guy is more shy and reserved normally. Thankfully he brought his “A” game for his cake smash photos and gave us the most beautiful selection of portraits!
I think he may have liked that cake 😉
And I personally just adore his little hat!
We always have the option for a post cake smash bath as well, making it a “smash and splash” session. The babies almost always love this part! Jayden was no exception to that rule, and loved splashing around in the bubbles and sending the water flying.
Suffice to say, this cake smash was a huge success! Thank you to Mom and Dad for bringing your sweet boy in to the studio and trusting my with creating his cake smash photos.
